|---|---|
| Who | XIUSoft, Republic of Korea. You must be at least 16 to sign in or subscribe. |

| What you get | Recording, looking back, stats, the lock and export are free. Bosong Plus (encrypted backup, sync, PDF diary book) is a paid subscription. Free trials, if offered, are introductory offers of the app stores. |
| Your data | Your diary is yours. The backup is end-to-end encrypted: if you lose your recovery key, nobody can restore it. |

| Law | Korean law, but never below the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live. Refunds and courts: sections 8 and 15. |
1. About these terms
“We”, “us” and “XIUSoft” mean XIUSoft (시우소프트), Republic of Korea, business registration number 752-41-01398, 901-401, 33 Dongtanjungsimsangga 1-gil, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, 18455, Republic of Korea. “The Service” means the Bosong app (on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, Wear OS watches and Windows), Bosong Plus and the related websites. “You” means the person using the Service.
These terms apply when you install or use Bosong, and you must agree to them in the app to use Bosong Plus. How we handle personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy; where the law requires consent (for example for sensitive information), the app asks for it separately.
2. Bosong is not a medical device or service
Bosong is a personal diary for writing down and looking back on how you feel, for general wellbeing. It is not a medical device, and it is not therapy, counselling or a healthcare service. It is not intended to diagnose, monitor, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease or mental health condition, and it does not assess risk. Statistics are summaries of what you entered, not a measure of your health. Statistics, XIU’s words and the help card are not medical or professional advice and do not replace a doctor, therapist or counsellor. If you are worried about your health, please talk to a doctor or another qualified professional.
Nobody monitors your entries, and we cannot read them. Bosong cannot know if you are in danger. If you are in crisis or might hurt yourself or someone else, call your local emergency number or a crisis line now; the Safety page lists some. The help card is a simple word match: it can miss things, and it can appear when it is not needed.
3. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough under the law of your country to enter a contract, to sign in or subscribe to Bosong Plus; otherwise a parent or guardian must accept these terms for you where your law allows, and the Privacy Policy still applies. The Service is not available where the law of your country prohibits it or where we are prohibited from supplying it (for example under trade sanctions).
4. Licence
App Store: if you obtained Bosong from the Apple App Store, your licence to use the app is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA, www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula). These terms are an additional agreement between you and XIUSoft for Bosong Plus, our server and the websites; they do not narrow the licence the Standard EULA gives you. Apple is not a party to these terms.
Other stores: if you obtained Bosong elsewhere (for example Google Play or the Microsoft Store), we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own lawful use, subject to these terms and to the usage rules of that store. We keep all rights not granted. You may not copy, modify, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer or extract the source code of the app except as the law allows, or remove notices.
The app includes fonts licensed under the SIL Open Font License, whose licence texts are included with the app. XIU, the Bosong name and the app’s artwork belong to XIUSoft.
5. Accounts and the recovery key
You can use the free features without an account. Bosong Plus needs a XIUSoft account, which you create by signing in with Apple or Google. The same account works for our other app, LiveSSH; each app’s own terms apply to that app. Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you suspect misuse.
Your backup is end-to-end encrypted with a key that is protected by a recovery key created on your device. We cannot decrypt your backup and cannot recreate the recovery key. If you lose it, your backup cannot be restored on a new device by anyone; the entries already on your devices are not affected. Keep the recovery key somewhere safe.
6. Your diary
Your entries belong to you. You give us only the limited permission needed to store the encrypted backup and provide the Service to you. Because we cannot read your backup, we do not review it. You can export your entries to a file at any time, for free.
Please do not use the Service unlawfully, try to break or overload our servers, bypass subscription checks or security, or use our server to store anything other than your own Bosong data. We may suspend or limit an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, after notice where this is practical.
7. Bosong Plus: subscriptions, free trial and auto-renewal
- Recording, looking back, stats, the lock, reminders and manual export are free. Bosong Plus adds end-to-end encrypted cloud backup, sync across your devices and the PDF diary book. It costs US$1.99 per month or US$14.99 per year, or the local price shown in your store, which may vary by country and includes applicable taxes. Bosong Plus is not offered in every country or region; where it is not offered (currently the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the app shows only the free features (Privacy Policy, section 1).
- Free trial: a free trial of Bosong Plus, where offered, is an introductory offer of the App Store or Google Play on the subscription itself. The store sets its length and who is eligible and shows it before you subscribe; unless you cancel in the store before the trial ends (at least 24 hours before, or within the period the store sets), the subscription then starts at the price shown. We do not give trials of our own.
- You buy through the Apple App Store (including the Mac App Store) or Google Play, which are the merchants of record; we do not take payment ourselves. Nothing is sold on Windows or in the Microsoft Store: you use the Bosong Plus subscription you bought on iOS, macOS or Android by signing in with the same account. One subscription applies to all your devices signed in to the same account.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours (or the period the store sets) before the period ends. Your store account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. We will tell you in advance of a price change as the store and the law require.
- Cancel in the store’s subscription settings (for example Apple ID > Subscriptions; Google Play > Payments and subscriptions). Deleting the app, your backup or your account does not cancel a store subscription. After you cancel, you keep Bosong Plus until the end of the paid period.
- When a subscription ends, everything on your devices stays and the free features keep working. Sync and new backups stop. Your encrypted backup stays on our server for 90 days so that you can restore it on a device, and is then deleted (Privacy Policy, section 7).
8. Refunds and consumer rights
The stores are the merchants: you buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and they process payments, refunds and withdrawals under their own terms. Request refunds from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play as the store describes. We cannot refund store payments ourselves but will help with a request where we can.
Right of withdrawal (EU, UK): consumers in the EU and the UK generally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content or a digital service that starts at once, you lose this right only if you expressly asked for immediate supply and acknowledged that you lose it; the store collects this at purchase and handles withdrawal requests. Korean consumers have the withdrawal and refund rights of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, exercised through the store. Australian consumers have the guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have by law and cannot be waived.
Complaints and out-of-court dispute resolution: write to contact@xiu.kr first. The EU online dispute resolution (ODR) platform was closed on 20 July 2025; EU and UK consumers may still use an approved consumer dispute-resolution (ADR) body in their country, and we will respond in good faith. We do not commit to take part in proceedings before a consumer arbitration body unless the law requires it. Korean consumers may use the Korea Consumer Agency or the Korea Consumer Dispute Mediation Commission.
9. Apple, Google and Microsoft
These terms are between you and XIUSoft only. Apple, Google and Microsoft are not parties to them and are not responsible for Bosong, Bosong Plus or their support; we are (see the Support page). Their usage rules and, for the App Store, the Standard EULA apply in addition to these terms. If these terms conflict with the Standard EULA about your licence to the app, the Standard EULA applies.
10. Service changes and availability
We may improve, change or retire features. We will tell you in the app, on the website or by email at least 30 days before a change that materially reduces what you paid for (7 days for a change that is not adverse to you, such as a new feature or a clarification). You may then cancel, and we will support a request for a proportionate refund of the prepaid period through the store. If we end Bosong Plus, we give you at least 30 days to restore your backup to a device. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service; there may be maintenance and outages. Our encrypted server backups are kept at most 30 days and only for disaster recovery, not to restore data on request, so keep your recovery key safe and use the export function for important entries.
11. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, that the Service will meet your particular needs, that the help card will appear whenever it could help, or that security can never be broken or data never lost.
This section does not remove any guarantee or remedy that the law gives you and that cannot be excluded, for example the conformity rules for digital content and services under the EU Digital Content Directive (EU) 2019/770 as applied in your country, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, the consumer guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law, and Korean consumer law, the Civil Act and the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions. Some countries do not allow certain disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event and US$50.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; for intent (wilful misconduct) or gross negligence; for breach of mandatory consumer, product-liability or data-protection law; or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you. The cap above does not apply to those claims, and where a limit is not allowed in full it applies only to the extent the law allows.
In Germany and other countries with similar rules, for slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (those that make performance possible and that you can rely on), and then limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable when the contract is made. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time, and delete your backup or your XIUSoft account in the app (Settings > Bosong Plus); cancel any subscription in the store. We may suspend or end your access to Bosong Plus if you materially breach these terms (after notice where practical) or if the law requires. If we stop offering Bosong Plus, or end your account for any other reason, we give at least 30 days’ notice and, through the store where possible, a refund of any prepaid period you could not use. When your account ends, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy; the entries on your devices stay yours. Sections that by nature should continue (for example intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive.
14. Export and sanctions
The app contains encryption. You must follow export, re-export and sanctions laws that apply to you, and you confirm that you are not located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region that is subject to comprehensive sanctions or embargoes, and are not on a restricted-party list. We may restrict the Service where we are required to by such laws.
15. Governing law and disputes
Korean law governs these terms and any dispute about them or the Service. If you are a consumer, this applies only to the extent that it does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually live (for example consumer-protection law in the EU and its member states, the United Kingdom, Brazil and the Republic of Korea). Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Please contact us first at contact@xiu.kr; we will try in good faith to resolve a dispute within 30 days. For business users, the Seoul Central District Court has exclusive jurisdiction. For consumers, the Seoul Central District Court is an additional, non-exclusive forum: it does not remove your right to bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence, or to be sued only there where the law gives you that right (for example under Articles 17 to 19 of EU Regulation 1215/2012, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Brazilian Consumer Defence Code). Out-of-court options are in section 8. We do not require arbitration and do not ask you to give up any right to take part in a collective action.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for new features or legal changes. We post the new version with its date. We notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before a material or adverse change takes effect, and at least 7 days before a change that is not adverse to you (for example a clarification, a new feature or a change in your favour). A change required sooner by law applies as the law requires. The notice will say what changes and that continued use after the date means you accept it. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and cancel before the date, and we will support a request for a proportionate refund of the prepaid period through the store.
17. General
If a part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor of the business. These terms, the Privacy Policy and, for App Store users, the Standard EULA are the whole agreement between us about the Service. The English text is the original; if a translation differs, the English text is used to interpret the meaning only where the law of your country allows it, and otherwise the version in your language is binding (see the note at the top of this page).
